About Me

Maire Ardhita

(moi-ra ar-dee-ta)

she/her ● 23 ● psychology student

Welcome to my little bubble on the internet, where I share a little bit about myself, thoughts and questions to ponder, and some of the things that I like and am passionate about. You can call me Maire (moi-ra) or Mary (to simplify things). A little fun fact: 'Maire' is the Irish version of my name. At first I was planning to use it as a pseudonym for a writing project, but since it was somewhat obvious (and I wanted it to be more subtle), I decided to use the name for personal projects instead, and it has been stuck with me ever since.

Currently, I'm pursuing a master's degree in Professional Psychology. My personal interests involve psychology, performing arts, travel, and literature. I love singing and learning new things. Check out my covers of some of my favourite songs on YouTube!

Life is a Work in Progress

Singing has been a big part of my life. I started singing when I was in kindergarten. I was in this vocal group with my 4 other friends and I don’t remember exactly if it was a competition but we did travel to another city to perform Sunday school songs at a church. My choir days continued when I was in primary school. I joined the school choir and, at some point, the school music group where I played the xylophone. I found great joy in singing as a kid, and I feel like I could express myself better through a song, and my parents decided to make me take some vocal lessons. As much as I enjoyed it in primary school, I didn’t really want to pursue it during middle school and high school. Being exposed to various other interests didn’t really help the case either. Do you know that feeling when you go to an all you can eat restaurant and there is just so much food from the menu that you would love to try? I think that’s a way to sum up how I feel about things I’m interested in almost all t...

2022 International Women's Day: "How I love being a woman."

"How I love being a woman,"  says Ruby in the third season of Anne with an E (Netflix).  I think this whole scene is so powerful to me, as a woman. It warms my heart every time I recall this scene in mind. It's been a long journey for me to get to this stage, to get to know myself and be comfortable in my own skin, to be the person that I am today. Now I love myself, and I love being a woman. Oftentimes, women are treated differently simply because they're women. They're belittled and their experienced are overlooked. They're compared with one another as if their self worth is defined by their looks. They're still shamed for choosing to pursue a career than to settle down to raise a family. They're branded as emotional when they're expressing their passion for something, or when they're simply defending themselves. Sure in some places, areas, and fields women now have equal rights and opportunities as men, but I don't think there's enou...

#MusicalMonday: Appreciating Growth and Friendship through 'For Good'

People come into our lives for a reason, bringing something we must learn   and we are led to those who let us most to grow if we let them and we help them in return. For Good, from 'Wicked the Musical' I am a huge believer of 'something happens for a reason' and by all means I believe that anything and anyone can be a reason behind why a certain thing is happening. Maybe a certain person touches your heart or maybe they challenge your current perspective and show you a new one. Maybe the pair of shoes that we've always wanted are sold out because there's gonna be a new one that has better technology.  Having this belief, personally, helps me a lot with managing my expectations and seeing things from another perspective, especially during the pandemic where everything is full of uncertainty. Maybe something good will come out of it, or maybe we can all learn new things and discovering new passions during the quarantine. Well, that's what happened to me. Du...
