2022 International Women's Day: "How I love being a woman."

"How I love being a woman," says Ruby in the third season of Anne with an E (Netflix).

I think this whole scene is so powerful to me, as a woman. It warms my heart every time I recall this scene in mind. It's been a long journey for me to get to this stage, to get to know myself and be comfortable in my own skin, to be the person that I am today. Now I love myself, and I love being a woman.

Oftentimes, women are treated differently simply because they're women. They're belittled and their experienced are overlooked. They're compared with one another as if their self worth is defined by their looks. They're still shamed for choosing to pursue a career than to settle down to raise a family. They're branded as emotional when they're expressing their passion for something, or when they're simply defending themselves. Sure in some places, areas, and fields women now have equal rights and opportunities as men, but I don't think there's enough safe space for all women. There are so many things and improvements need to be done to assure the safety of women, and we still have a long way to go.

I think women are beautiful creatures. They're strong and delicate at the same time. They come in different colours, shades, and shapes, but they're gorgeous nonetheless.

Thank you for holding on and coming this far. You're doing amazing. You got this. You are beautiful and divine. Keep being your awesome self.

Let's celebrate with kindness. Show compassion and lift each other up.

2021: The Year of Acceptance

Dear 2021, Thank you for teaching me how to be strong and resilient. Things might not go my way, but I'm still glad with how it turned out in the end. I still believe that things happen for a reason, and that failures make room for growth. I'd say that it was hard having to go through it all, having to feel such discomfort, but I believe that there would be an open door waiting for me at the end of the road, and the only way out is to keep going. 'To thine own self be true' as I quote from one of Shakespeare's plays, Hamlet. To be true to your own self. The past two years, I've grown to get to know me, myself, who I am as a person. Do I like who she (me) is? At first, not so much. I realised that at the beginning, it was rather hard to acknowledge your strengths and your weaknesses, your talents and your flaws, and to measure your self worth. Greetings and welcome to my small bubble on the internet, where I share my writings and thoughts with the world! The idea of (re)starting a blog, a new one, has been lingering for a while. The whole quarantine I had been trying to learn more about myself, trying to reflect, trying to grateful, and I would love to pour those feelings and thoughts into a writing and share it. Life is a Work in Progress

Singing has been a big part of my life. I started singing when I was in kindergarten. I was in this vocal group with my 4 other friends and I don’t remember exactly if it was a competition but we did travel to another city to perform Sunday school songs at a church. My choir days continued when I was in primary school. I joined the school choir and, at some point, the school music group where I played the xylophone. I found great joy in singing as a kid, and I feel like I could express myself better through a song, and my parents decided to make me take some vocal lessons. As much as I enjoyed it in primary school, I didn’t really want to pursue it during middle school and high school. Being exposed to various other interests didn’t really help the case either.
